Documentation

Editing & backups

Your site is stored as a document — a list of sections, each with its own content and settings — rather than as a pile of code. That is why you can ask for a change in plain English and get it, instead of being handed a file to edit.

Chat is the main way to edit. Ask for a shorter headline, a different colour, another section, a page for your services, and the change lands on the page you are looking at. Each edit costs 8 credits; reading and previewing do not.

Every turn is saved before it is applied, so an edit you dislike can be undone. Version history keeps the published versions of your site and you can put an earlier one back — 50 versions on Grow, 200 on Scale, 1000 on Agency.

If you want to work with the underlying document directly, the JSON editor is there for it. Most people never need it, and nothing in the product requires you to open it.

KaiBuild does not hand back a folder of code, and that is a deliberate limit rather than a missing feature. What you can always take with you is the content: the document itself is visible and copyable in the JSON editor, and form submissions export as a spreadsheet.
